Don't think that's going to help iforgot's mod addiction problem, though :p

Cool! I somehow missed that.
iforgot is a lost cause, I think

They don't always sticky stuff that's asked for. I had a thread on tutorials that people asked to sticky, but it never was.

I get that.
But it does seem very quiet around here. The sticky rules for building contests have vanished months ago.

They did ask for new mods a bit back. Maybe they're still training them.

There are lots of mods, but few of them seem active on the forums.
https://modthesims.info/showgroups.php
Many of the trainee moderators I've never spoken to or seen post socially (although most of them upload and post in the Downloads threads), and I'm here most days and active on all forums.
I often report spam or activity which breaks rules, and it's always dealt with promptly, but usually by one of the supermods or admins.
You can see that there is only one moderator with forum permissions and they only have mod permissions for the Download forum, so would not be able to, say, delete this post. So I'm assuming that most of the moderators are training for queue moderation, and that forum moderation is not widely needed now (given that most of us regulars report things that are amiss).
If you want something stickied or have a request regarding the forums, best thing to do is to ask on the Site Issues forum, and bump it with @ to the site owner or one of the admins if it's not replied to after a few days.

Also, it seems that many are active on the Discord channels, but I prefer the forums so don't go there a lot! But that's always worth using if you need to ask the staff something. Click Community>Discord on the menu at the top of the page to get there.

Thank you, @simsample.

I have been checking that building contest thread for a long time now, thinking that somebody would get around to that. I cannot honestly say how long, but it was shortly after I have uploaded Paternoster - and that is quite some time ago now.

I seem to recall that your thread on tutorials was briefly stickied a few years ago, but then it was "un-stickied" again. I've no idea why. Maybe somebody thought there were too many stickied threads. Or maybe it was just un-stickied by mistake!!

@Charity @Justpetro Which threads are you both referring to? Maybe I could make a post in the site issues forum requesting those, as I have some old sticky posts that I think should be un-stickied. So I could ask all in one thread?

I feel like contests are something that gets caught in feedback loops, positive or negative, and right now it's been negative. I'd tried to get a building contest around the Olympics started a few years ago and didn't get enough response for it to move forward, and I'm not sure there's honestly been much since then. I'd definitely love to see contests start popping up again though too!

It feels weird to me that the last contest happened while I was still in high school and now I'm working on my master's thesis. I feel old now...

Oh, I didn't even know there WAS a building contest suggested! Where would I find this?

I remember that and it was a pity. (I entered )

Right now it seems impossible to start one, though - the threads are not there.

Contests.
This is what you get when you try to read the contest rules.

I see no way to start a building contest (as it used to work).

Okay, I made a thread with all my little requests, have I got this right everyone?

Charity, I think I must have missed your mini tutorial thread first time round, that was about the time my father was really ill so I didn't get on here much. Great thread though!

@simsample how come you're a retired mod? Would you perhaps feel comfortable becoming a full-on mod again, given that the Sims 2 board is much less active than before, if such un-retirement is possible? This wouldn't put that much pressure on you, yet we'd have a tidy community.

I don't think there's a great need for forum moderators really, a few of the admins come to the forums and move things or lock things or act on reports, and there are far fewer active posters than when I was a mod (it was very busy back then, plus there were three sites- MTS2, SXS2 and Sims2Community). I used to forum mod on all three, including contests and some uploads. The main issue I see here is spam from time to time, I usually report those and they get deleted promptly. So if I were to become a mod there wouldn't be much to do aside from queue moderating, and I really do not want to do that! Besides, I'm old and quite like the 'retired' tag and having no obligation.

So Tashiketh stickied your post @Charity , and has approved the idea to have a contest. We just need someone to decide what contest to do, and to make a post. Then we let Tashiketh know and he will approve it.

I just realized that teens don't graduate from school, they just grow up into adults without no recognition of them passing high school. I need to implement high school graduation in my game.

There's no drama, like Sims drama.

I think I'd like something like that-and at the end of the graduation, they grow up to YA's to go to college.

Something like a diploma to trigger it besides a cake? (Squinge's 'College in the Hood" has one)
