Hi jgwhiteus,

For some reasons, when I add these lights into my lots under a system of no EP (EP0) without the mod-part to make my EP2 versions of my lots, these EP2 lights still functions slightly like the Maxis coloured lights in terms of coloration. But both the colour strength and intensities are very weak. That means they still have effects on objects around but very weak. The weak light can only seen without other lights around at the game night. Well, I'm telling you just in case you may be interested to know.

Hi stickylungs,

I'm glad that everything worked out and that they're working properly. Thank you for letting me know.

Hi niol,

Yes, I think the ceiling lights will still throw colored light on objects without the installation procedure - that is due to the "Lighting(Point Light)" filetype that is inherent in the file itself (which determines object lighting). However, to get the object to throw light on walls and floors, Nightlife requires that the object be linked to a .nlo (Lighting Override) file in the system folder. In Original & University, you used to be able to add in a special filetype to the object to throw light on walls and floors, but it's become unstable in Nightlife.

Sorry, that's probably more explanation than you cared to hear, but thank you again for testing these objects so thoroughly and keeping me updated. Take care,

J.

I know this might sound odd but I've had hell with difficult installations of objects before can you put them in an installer? It might also help with removeing it if thers any problems as you coud uninstall them.

If you cant do it I understand perfectly I spend years doing programming and still cant do it myself.

These are working GREAT for me! Thanks so much for making them!

Y'know, after reading this thread, I hesitated even downloading these lights, since I'm extremely cautious about "messing with" files in the \Program Files\ directories. I'm so afraid I'll screw something up. But once I gritted my teeth and DID it, it turned out to be a lot easier than I thought it would be. I just went step-by-step, reading carefully and following the directions to the letter, and it all came out fine!

I hope that reassures others who might be reluctant to download these lights. They're well worth the extra steps.

Okay, I have your lights, followed all the instructions....how do I use them to light up the whole room? These currently throw a very dim light on an object and I am looking for the whole room effect.

I'd love to download these, but I'm concerned because I use Gunmod's Radiance Lighting. Will they conflit?

Hi Johnyvii,

The lightbulbs won't conflict, but because I think Gunmod's Radiance Lighting modifies the same lighting file ("Lighting.txt" in either the Nightlife or Open for Business Directory), you should install these bulbs and make changes to "Lighting.txt" AFTER you've installed Gunmod's file. That is, let Gunmod modify your files first, then follow the instructions to open the modified "Lighting.txt" and make the changes necessary for these objects (these objects only require modification of one line of text, while I think Gunmod's is much more extensive). Hope that made sense,

J.

Well I'm stumped. I got NL & OFB recently & hadn't got around to testing the old lights to see if they still worked but I'm sure they were working the other day when I was testing the radiance lighting.....anyway after I decided not to use radiance & restored all my back up files they didn't work, so I came & found the update. I installed the update, changed my NL txt file, & fired up my game. I then had 7 lights the three dead ones & the four new ones. The new ones worked great so I delleted the dead ones from in game but after I went to another lot the new ones didn't work. I searched my downloads folder to make sure the old ones were gone (just in case they were causing a conflict but I don't see how they could) they were so I deleted & re droped the new ones back into my downloads.......still no joy. Any sugestions? are you sure I don't have to change my OFB txt?

Hi, I'm a Mac user and I downloaded the lights.
I opened the lighting.txt file and couldn't find the line reading "sinclude doors nlo" anywhere, so I decided to just put the lights themselves in the downloads folder without using the other two files that go in the game directory.
They actually work, but only on objects, not on the walls and floor.
I've been tweaking other txt files and they're usually the same for Mac and PC, maybe not in this case?

I've included a pic so you can see.

Thanks this mod is awesome! It makes my spooky lots "spooky."
Just so people know, this is compatible with Seasons. I've tried it out and it works well in my game.

Hey!~ I just wanted to let you know that I tested them in my game. I have seasons installed and It will work if you put it in the pets folder. I have plenty of downloads so, I haven't found any conflicts or Bugs. So this will also work in Seasons, I believe.
Very nice job J!

I'm confused. I have nightlife, OFB and pets, but in my files I see no files that say sims 2 nightlife or anything like that. I have one that says EP2 and that has a "lights" file in it. I'm not sure if this is the file I"M supposed to use?

These are so convenient! Now I don't have to put those neon flamingo-shaped wall lights everywhere!

I accidentaly installed it the same way I do everything else, and it seems okay, although the red is weaker than the others. And the spotlight version is hard to control...
