Hey my Grandma had three fish like this with the bubbles on her wall in the bathroom when I was a kid. I had forgotten all about the fish I think. Thanks for reminding me of them!

My grandparents had these kind of fish in their bathroom I think they won these from a carnival booth or got them at a garage sale. They were a similar color to this. Later my grandma or my aunt painted them gold with the "antique" black details as was fashionable in 1974ish.

A friend of mine's aunt had some chalkware horses she won at Riverside Park in Chicago. Most of the kids broke their prizes into bits and used them as chalk for the sidewalks, alleys and playlots but the aunt kept hers on her shelf.

I had a chalkware Siamese cat (the stretchy faux-Egyptian style) and a chalkware Fifi cat or whatever those cats were called, the ones that the Baby Phat cat looks a lot like -- I won them both at a carnival about the same time my grandparents' fish got a remuddling. I don't remember what happened to the Fifi cat but the Siamese survived until it shattered in '98ish.

I know this message might go unread, but I have to say, this brought back a lot of memories. My great-aunt (who was also my babysitter) had two sets of these sorts of chalkware fish. She would change them out every so often. I was always fascinated by them. Thank you for the magic moment.
